The Amazing Benefits of Generators

A permanently installed Generac home backup generator protects your home automatically. It runs on natural gas or liquid propane and sits outside just like a central air conditioning unit.

Utilizing smart technology, the generator monitors your home utility power 24/7, and automatically begins running upon detecting a power outage.

Electricity during power blackouts

Accidents may occur within your locality that may cause the power to go off. A backup generator will sustain your needs.

Stay comfortable during emergencies

With a whole-home generator, you can keep all the electronics in your home, including your heater or air conditioner, working during a power outage. This keeps your home from getting too hot or too cold, which can lead to heat stroke, hypothermia, and other health problems.

Increase the value of your home

A whole-home generator is a useful upgrade that attracts buyers and helps you sell your home faster.

Learn More About Generators

Here are some answers to Frequently Asked Questions.

What is an automatic backup generator?

An automatic backup generator is a backup of your electrical system that monitors your home. Within seconds of an outage, it automatically supplies power to your home. After power returns, the generator turns itself off and waits for the next outage.

What are the benefits of an automatic generator instead of a portable generator?

Automatic backup generators turn on within seconds of your power going out, preventing you from having to haul a generator outside and running extension cords through your house. Permanently installed generators also protect you from deadly carbon monoxide poisoning which is a much greater risk with a portable generator.

What size generator will I need?

This depends on the size of your home, where you live, and which circuits you need to be backed up. The very best way to understand your needs is to contact one of our home energy consultants by calling 385-270-9608.

What is a critical loads panel?

A critical loads panel is a secondary panel next to your main power panel. You can choose which lights, rooms, and appliances to add to a critical loads panel, so your generator only needs to supply power to what is most important.

Do generators require maintenance?

All generators will require maintenance from time to time, such as oil and filter changes to ensure maximum performance.

What type of fuel do home generators use?

Home backup generators are most commonly connected to your home’s existing natural gas line, however, we can configure the generator to run on liquid propane if needed.

Can I go off grid with a home generator?

It is not recommended to use a generator as your primary power source. The fuel costs would be much more expensive than buying power from the utility company. If you are looking to go “off grid”, we recommend using solar and a backup battery as your primary power source.

How loud is the generator?

Our backup generators are designed to be quiet. When running, the generator is about 60 decibels from 20 feet, slightly less noisy than an air conditioning unit.
